The new John Deere high horsepower (hp) 9RX tractors – that’s the BIG DEAL! Earlier this year, John Deere introduced three new models to the 9RX series line-up the 710, 770 and 830. That’s right, an 830 hp tractor! That’s one big machine. In this post, we’ll break down and talk through some of the highlights of these three completely redesigned models.

The new John Deere high hp 9RX’s can physically pull more being heavier, generating more power and effectively putting that power to the ground with its new transmission and undercarriage/track system redesign. Giving the producer the capability to pull larger and heavier air carts or wider tillage equipment at faster speeds even over hilly terrains. Having additional hydraulic output meets the demands of larger implements as well. These tractors simply allow producers to get more done in less time!

Engine:
The brand-new John Deere 18L, dual turbocharged engine can crank out a max of 913 hp and max torque of 3,123 lbs./ft. all while utilizing exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) technology to meet Final Tier 4 emission standards. Put simply – REQUIRES NO DEF! What an input cost savings to run these new models?! An estimated 800 gals of DEF per year cost-savings actually! A reversible, hydraulic cooling fan also differentiates this powerhouse from others in the industry.

Hydraulics:
Increased hp ranges weren’t the only impressive ‘gains’ seen on the new 9RX models. Now with the optional triple pump available on the 710, 770 and 830, the system can boast up to 168 gpm! The overall system is designed to keep the transmission oil, steering, brakes and the engine cooling fan separate to not compromise any of those functions regardless of the application or strain put on the overall system. For producers utilizing implements that require continuous hydraulic flow such as no-till air drills, air hoe drills and air carts, a bonus available on the 9 Series is the Intelligent Power Management (IPM) option available factory or field installed. Capable of providing up to an additional 40 hp boost while at rated engine speed, operators have peace of mind to better handle changing field conditions while under these high-demand hydraulic applications.

Transmission:
Introducing the NEW e21 PowerShiftTM transmission with the proven technology of Efficiency ManagerTM – matching the most efficient gear ratio and engine RPM for the task at hand to maintain the requested ground speed. Getting to that desired ground speed is even quicker now with the ability to skip shift; bumping through the even or odd gears or even skipping multiple gears in one shift.

More specs to take notice of:
Weight – 74,000 lb to 76,000 lb
Max Ballast – 76,000 lb to 84,000 lb
Footprint – 30 in tracks available on 88 in spacing and 30 in and 36 in track options are available on 88 in or 120 in spacing all feature a larger drive sprocket in the track undercarriage that engages 7.5 drive lugs, again helping convert all that horsepower more efficiently to the ground.
